Does the balcony glazing system provide heat insulation?
Because the glass used in the balcony glazing systems are not “double glazing” and are tempered glass and because the profiles are aluminum, heat insulation is less than expected.
Is it difficult to clean the balcony glazing system?
In folding glass systems, because all glasses can be opened and brought together, the glasses can be opened and cleaned one by one. (Sliding glass systems are not very suitable for cleaning from the outside or in between the panes since the glasses cannot be folded.)
Does the Glass Balcony System provide waterproofing?
It provides waterproofing in normal rains.
Even though some companies claim that their “glass balcony system is water proof” glass balcony systems can not provide full waterproofing in rains with strong winds and tempest.
What needs to be done if the moving parts of the system rust?
When the glass balcony was first used in Turkey the roller bearings used in the systems on the market were designed to operate in “oil” rather than under external weather conditions. Therefore, such systems would rust and became unfunctional after a certain amount of time.
With certain companies and sub-contracted systems feet with galvanized iron wheels and auxiliary materials are still in use.
What needs to be noted here is that companies which use stainless chromium-nickel roller bearing feet and auxiliary materials should be preferred.
It the rust prone mechanism and rust prone auxiliary materials are used mold and oxidation forms and therefore, problems with running glass wings and runs along the edges of the system due to oxidation are encountered.
Are the glass resistant to wind?
“Tempered glass” should be used in Glass Balcony systems. Tempered glass are resistant against surface impacts and wind.

Glass balcony systems can be applied on any balcony whether cornered, oval or angular.
What is Tempered Glass?
Is is based on the principle of pre-tensioning glass surfaces under a pressure of 10.000 psi by heating glasses panels, which have been previously cut to size and edge-finished, in special furnaces to a temperature of nearing it melting point and rapidly cooling.
The glass is heated up to 700°C in tempering furnaces and then cooled by blowing in air. With the falling temperature the surface contracts and hardens. However, the inner part remains hot and adapts itself to the contraction which takes place on the surface. With the cooling of the inner part as well tensile stresses are formed. While glass, which has been tempered by the sudden application of heat becomes resistant to a heat shock of 300°C, a heat shock of 30-50°C can cause an un-tempered glass to break, which shows that tempered glass is 6-7 times more resilient as compared to ordinary glass. In the “testing with a ball released from a height” used for mechanically testing tempered glasses, while a tempered glass of 8 mm thickness breaks with a 500 group ball released from a height of 2.5 m, an untempered glass is broken with a ball as heavy released from a height of 30 cm.
How is insulation provided for in the Glass Balcony?
Transparent insulation glass cords are used in between the glasses and 800-1000-1200-1500 hair cords are used in between the profiles and in between the bottom and top bases. The system's circumference is insulated with antibacterial silicone and external factors such as rain, dust, wind etc. which can enter from the outside are thus prevented.
